About George Lovera
George is a Certified Student Coach based in Columbia, Maryland. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Towson University, George dedicated 30 years to motivating middle school students to love showing up each day with a smile.
Along with mentoring minds in the classroom, George coached soccer, ran multiple intramural programs, and took the lead on charity events. What motivated George the most as a classroom teacher was fostering creativity, helping students grow, and making a positive impact on their lives.
Having the opportunity to live in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rome, Italy early in his life provided George with an open mind to the possibilities the world has to offer. Over the last 15 years, George has led over 300 middle and high school students on international trips. These experiences provided George’s students with improved cultural awareness, personal growth and independence, and increased empathy and open-mindedness.
George lives his life by joyfully embracing the difficulties of each day. George and his wife and best friend Alisa work on their gratitude journals every morning at breakfast and evening at dinner. George and Alisa are the proud parents of Sophie who is committed to working with highly autistic children and Ben who is a business development representative for a cyber security company.
What is Student Coaching?
The Student Coaching program pairs students (ages 13-21) with a highly-trained student coach to hone in on their unique growth areas and equip them with the real-world skills they need to succeed, both inside the classroom and beyond. In addition to 1:1 coaching calls, they work together through training modules, assessments, videos, and more as part of our Student’s Edge curriculum. Parents are kept appraised of progress milestones with frequent progress reports.
